Your motto on surviving a horrible date! |
Our first Creative Thinking Skills class definitely sparked off some excitement with the first projects brief from our lecturer. We had to create a survival kit! In a group! This kind of realistic creative project never before existed in high school, so everyone was hyped up to create an ultimate one. As stated in the brief, we were to check off a list of things: an actual survival kit, a manual or instruction book, an ad video and lastly, a group journal. Attached is the brief.
BRIEF CTS P.1 Survival Kit from suehwa533
The pages of our group journal. Everyone was in charge of their own two items to be included in the journal. The general introduction pages were done by Anna, me, Lee Yih and En Huey.
On presentation day, I couldn’t be present to present as I had to leave for a family vacation, but I was told it went quite well. Our kit even got selected as an example and was kept by the lecturers! We were quite happy and satisfied with the turnout. I learned that hard work from every member was important to avoid conflicts and bad results. As our first CTS assignment, it was a lot to learn :)
10 of us girls then formed a group: Anna, Pei Kei, Yincy,
Claudwie, Lynette, Jia Hui, Lee Yih, En Huey, Audrey and I. After a somewhat
fun game of charades, we received our theme, that is ‘How to Survive a Horrible
Date’ to base our survival kit on. There were many exciting topics as well such
as ‘Retired Superhero’ and ‘How to Survive a Boring Class’. Although a little
overwhelmed at first by the workload of this project, we were also already
bubbling with ideas.
Job delegation was crucial for this project, so that we
could tackle all requirements evenly without leaving anything out. For the meetings
after that, Anna took charge of the kit manual, while the others were part of
the construction team, to make the kit, while I oversaw and managed the
progress. We would do a lot of research on branding and identity for the
packaging, and also the type of products and why, to be discussed and reviewed
every meeting. We even had visits to the mall to buy materials needed and for
inspiration for the branding. Each of us had to contribute two item each to the
kit as well. As the kit began to take form, Lee Yih and En Huey worked on the
advertisement video.
Here is a copy of the manual after a few nights of hard
work. *will be posted soon
A few photos of our progress and process + photos of the kit construction + a few of the items.
The final photos and design of our kit. Definitely stylish, compact and convenient.

Our ‘How To Survive a Horrible Date’ ad video. Hilarious! We had lots of fun filming it.
