CL - P.2 > Landscape Project

Public space + Urban intervention - San Francisco

The final project for Constructed Landscape was the most challenging and and advanced one. We were required to search for a 10 times 10 metres site on campus, and to propose a green space project for it. Just as a brief overview, it involved drawing real landscape drawings, costing list, maintenance plan etc. in the form of a report and 2 A2-sized presentation boards.

This was a full group project, so I made sure to team up with a very competent team, consisting of Anna, Pei Kei, Shiko, Kayla and Rozanna. Naming ourselves the CL Mega Cutiepies (all-girls), we were quite a strong team as everyone had individual strengths and qualities. Below is the the final project brief.

For this final assignment, we were short on time with every other project pouring in and distracting us, especially the ENBE finals. Even so, we managed to pull it off with a couple of days of hard work in the studio (with the help of a deadline extension by a few days too!) with everyone's cooperation. Throughout all our meetings, we continuously discussed about the plan, layout, zoning, planting plan and hardscape to be incorporated into our landscape project while simultaneously doing on-line research and compiling information. Before that, we also measured our site together and took down details for the site analysis part.

Our site has a great view of the lake and the Syopz mall

Besides that, the few previous lectures were conducted on landscape drawings and also costing, which gave us a foundation to start off with. For job delegation, we divided ourselves according to our specialities. For example, Shiko was in charge of all the drawings, while Anna handled the costing and bill of quantities portion in the report. Not only that, Anna kept in touch with her uncle who works as a landscaper throughout the project, learning tips and advice from him for the report. I composed and wrote the presentation boards, while Rozanna, Kayla and Pei Kei managed the general research and the rest of the report. As the deadline drew closer, we became more efficient and well-versed in what needed to be done.

Below are our presentation boards.

A lot of the manpower in our team was focused on the report as well, to make it more detailed and clear. Here is a copy of our report, titled 'Heiwa'.

Being our second last project for the semester, we were motivated to push through. Eventually, we did a pretty thorough job and learnt a lot about the landscape from it as well. Kudos to the CL Megacutiepies!
