AN INTRO

ENG 1 - A.2 > Oral Presentation

Vibrant - Taipei 101 at dusk
The second round: assignments started to pour in from all directions again. For our second project, we were introduced to a group-based (around 5 people per group) oral presentation. Interestingly, it was to be in form of a 30-minute video, with each student speaking for about 5 minutes. The last few tutorials revolved around public speaking and communication skills, which helps us out in the assignment. Below is the brief for this assignment.

Immediately, my tutorial table buddies became my group mates. They consist of a pretty gung-ho bunch: Schani, Amos, Samantha, Joey, Aswad and myself. Even though our first few discussions were honestly unproductive, as the deadline drew closer, we began to set ourselves into motion.

The presentation theme being 'Ancient or Modern Wonders of the World', we quickly came to a decision to talk about the well-renowed Taipei 101 in Taiwan. After dividing ourselves to a sub-topic each, we individually researched on information for our part in order to have sufficient content for the video presentation, and also to compose our own script. Individually, my topic was the building background, which was an interesting one. For the group video, my part was to do the voice-over for the introduction.

We then met up one weekend to rehearse and shoot the video all on the same day. Surprisingly, it turned out to be more fun then tedious, despite all the hours spent researching and pondering on writing. We quickly made the decision to set up our camp in a empty classroom. One by one, Amos, who was in charge of the filming, filmed us presenting, not forgetting many rounds of hilarious muck-ups and mistakes. It was a great environment to work in: everyone chipping in with ideas and working together to achieve better.

After a few hours, we concluded the filming session, with satisfied feelings. It was a great experience I'd keep in memory :)
