AN INTRO

DESIGN - DPJ + PORTFOLIO

Example of a thought and idea documentation and compilation

Design Process Journals, or DPJs for short, were also a part of our design module since the start of the semester. An integrated process study, understanding and analysis of our character to assist us when it comes to the final project. Even during semester break, our lecturer Ms Dee, had already prepared us to find a buy a mini Lego figurine. After scouting for a week, I settled with the famous Joker as mine, although I had never watched a full movie of Batman, I decided to take on the challenge and was intrigued by this specific personality. Below is the brief:

Starting off, understanding was the basis to everything. Mapping out everything from characteristics to physical appearance to activities, I saw him clearer. Handmade:

The second journal was about summing up the character in 2 keywords. More idea processes and explanations that explored interesting and possible concepts.

The third DPJ was sort of the final one that directly linked the journal to the display case: in terms of presentation boards and content. Understanding what it really is and thought processes. More focus on concept translated to basic design elements and principles plus initial sketches and designs of the display case.

Last but not least was the DPJ compilation including a short curriculum vitae (CV), portfolio of past projects and a cover. Summing up all I've done and putting my identity on it evoked a feeling of relieved happiness. Photos:

Overview

Below are the actual pages of my portfolio compilation, Proud of what I've done in just 6 months.

Handing up this grey, hard-backed file stamped a mark of freedom for us as our last ever submission. So glad for this experience.
