AN INTRO

EPC - P.1 > PHOTO BLOG

Photography is the freedom of expression.

The first ever assignment of effective public communication definitely caught our attention at first 'brief'. I think its a natural love we budding architects have for photography. So when Ms Thivilojana briefed us about a photo blog we would have to create by actually visiting places, we were extremely enthusiastic. What better way to communicate effectively than photography anyway? Attached is the brief.

A 6 to 7 man team we were supposed to form. So we chose the latter (haha). Consisting of Yen Min, Samantha, Aida, Nurin, James and Amos, we knew we were forming an elite work group of friends - photography amateurs, travelling enthusiasts, word geeks, and fun people at that. Next, was choosing the right venue that would agree with the direction of the assignment we were looking for. Almost straight away, we decided on Sekinchan. Light research showed that it was a relatively nearby plentiful small town cum village, that was also relatively popular among tourists and locals. Here are some photos of what we did!

Last group shot with paddy field. My favourite.

First meal of the day in a local coffeeshop!

Stopping by was frequent.

Posing atop a abandoned boat.

Yes, we had a great one-day trip to Sekinchan. We actually had the discipline to start out from school at literally 5.30 am, with the intention of catching the sun rise up over the beautiful green paddy fields of Sekinchan, an hour's drive away (unfortunately, Aida and Nurin were unable to join us). The whole day was filled with bike rides, exploring the little Sekinchan, from its main agriculture plantations to fishing borders, and sun, Yes, it was full of sun. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and took as many photos as we could to be filtered out later on, according to the brief's requirements: food, culture and agriculture.

When we got back, Aida and Nurin took charge of creating a blog draft and later on developing the actual website. Next, everyone had a part to play in giving all photos a caption. Through tutorials and short discussions, we finalized it! If you find the screenshot of the website homepage, Sekinchan+, attractive, click on the link below to enjoy our artistic yet purposeful photos with accompanying captions!

To finish it off, we ended this assignment with a short presentation to the class and our lecturer to explain our experience and photos and content. It went well.

What a short and sweet start to a new sem :)
