AN INTRO

ENG 2 - FINAL P. > BUSINESS COMPARISON

A great Bak Kut Teh family-sized spread

Our first integrated project: EPC and English. Interesting at the same time intriguing. We had to pick and choose two trades or businesses to analyse, compare and present, one within Kuala Lumpur, and the other out of town. Retaining the same team from the previous mural art assignment, with the addition of Amir. From the first brief, we debated between the subject of sweet shops, grocery stores and Bak Kut Teh restaurants, but choosing the latter in the end. The opportunity to grab some good Bak Kut Teh was probably too enticing. As this was an integrated project, we had two briefs to refer to to fulfil the two sides of it in terms detailed report for English and a verbal presentation with slides for EPC. The briefs below:

So we got down to it. As fast as we could, we selected Tanjung Sepat, a small fishing town located in Kuala Langat. According to some research beforehand, there was a rather popular local Bak Kut Teh restaurant nestled in the heart of town we were eyeing on. Armed with the list of questions suggested by our English lecturer, Ms Cassandra, to include in the English report, we went on yet another half-day trip to the little town. After a hearty brunch of Bak Kut Teh, we got to interview the co-founder of the small restaurant. Taking turns to ask questions, jot notes and audio record, we obtained sufficient information for one side of the assignment, Below are some photos!

After our meal *burp*.

A productive, short trip. But there was more to come. Based on Amos's recommendations (him being a born and bred Subang boy), we made another separate, short visit to a restaurant in SS17 for the KL side of the interview (and another meal).  Photos below:

Soon after getting back, we started sorting and synthesizing straight away, working on the report for English first. According to the table of contents expected, we delegated sections for each of us to analyse and research on. Thereafter, we sent our parts to Shi-Ko to compile and edit. From the detailed report for English, Anna extracted key points to make a series of presentation slides for EPC. Here there are, we were very proud of our work. Our written report. Enjoy!

Leadership and teamwork from each one of us contributed to the success of this comparative project. Developing our analytical minds to focus on ideas and facts to overcome each challenge was definitely the epitome of it, definitely enjoyable. Besides upping our oral and public speaking skills, over and over again for this subject improved our confidence in ourselves and each other, Great team spirit which I loved, and would definitely do it again.

Thanks for everything, you guys!
